Create An Audio Book
Create an Audio Book
Turn your creative mind into a talking book.
Create an audio book and allow others to enjoy your unique stories. Are you creative enough? I bet you are, take a look around your everyday life. There are events, life happenings and stories occurring around you all the time.
Do you have children of your own? Take their life learning’s of hard knocks and turn them into some entertaining yet meaningful lessons. You could call your first book “Life Lessons of a 1 year Old” and tell what a 1 year old does and the lesson behind it. Then continue the books every year of your child’s life, write it from a parents perspective, the child’s perspective or both.
I am sure first time parents to be would be very interested in these stories. It would give them a heads up of what to expect and how to deal with certain situations. If these audiobooks are done with a certain flair of light sided humor, they could be very entertaining.
Another idea is to take the stories of grandparents and convert them into audio books. This way generations of the family can enjoy these great stories of times past. The stories from the grandparents can be simple stories of what the cars were like (if there were any) or what it was like to get electricity to the house. You know, the common things we take for granted today.
See it is easy to come up with simple ideas that can be turned into fun little talking books. Why not give it a go, you will never know where it will take you!
There are two ways to create an audio book.
The first way is to use a text to speech computer program that can convert simple text into actual live audio format. That’s correct, if you can type text on a computer then the program takes the text and adds a digital audio voice (the voice is so good, you would think it is human) and creates the audio book with the voice.
Digital voices, yeah right… sounds like those terrible automated telephone menus from a few years ago. Well, technology has changed a lot and so have the voices. Create an audio book can be as easy as typing your audio book story into text and running a program.
There are many styles of voices, with accents and without, male or female it is all basically covered. There is even voices in different languages. Now, this is one of those areas that you get what you pay for. So do not go out and download a free text to speech program and expect it to sound good…because it will not!
To easy, GREAT! Let’s get started…

Another Choice
The second method to create an audio book is a little more complex, but you do not have to be a NASA engineer to figure it out. Basically, by using the voice you are most familiar with…yours, and record the audio book you are reading directly to a computer. Converting your voice into a digital audio
book format. But in order to accomplish this, you will need a few more items but you get to use your own voice. No worry, the bank account won’t be broke either.
To record your own voice audio books, the following is needed:
- Microphone stand
- Studio Quality microphone
- USB Audio/MIDI interface
- Headphones
Now the main difficulty you will find is the quality of the audiobook upon completion. It is tough to get a high quality audio recording directly from your computer. This is where my friend Walt Capell comes in.
Walt was looking for a way to make re-occurring money on the internet when a thought came to mind. He decided to start making his own information audiobooks about topics that many people are searching for the answers.
Walt did a lot of homework about how to record an audio book and then take it to publishing. He did such a good job that he created his own “How to Record an Audio Book” and “How to Publish an Audio Book” recording all in one. An audiobook Do-It-Yourself-Guide if you wish to call it that.
I purchased a copy and was immediately amazed of the high quality and the amount of information he gives for various set ups ranging in all budget points.

My complete review of Walt’s product is that I highly recommend the small investment to quickly gain the ample knowledge to create your own studio quality audio book recordings right at home.
The Last Alternative!
If you are really serious about recording your story into an audiobook format, then a recording studio is the best alternative. Why is this a better alternative? Well, you basically are leaving the recording to the professionals and have to worry only about the reading.
Do a little research around your local area to see if there are any recording studios. Now you do not have to be a rock star to get into a recording studio. Most studios have the capability to do audiobook recordings and they definitely have superior equipment to give you the professional audiobook product.
However one down fall is that studio time costs money each and everytime you enter the studio. Since this is probably the highest cost to creating an audiobook, always practice reading the story many times that you want to record so the actual recording goes smoothly.
Make sure you have fun when you create an audio book, it should be a very rewarding experience!
